Gibran Attends Harmony of Nusantara Chinese Recent Year Celebration in Jakarta

Jakarta – Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended the 2026 Harmony of Nusantara Chinese New Year celebration held at Banteng Square, Jakarta, on Saturday, February 28, 2026 Kompas.com.

Arrival and Welcoming Committee

Vice President Gibran arrived at the location around 8:00 PM local time, wearing a brown batik shirt Kompas.com. He was greeted by several ministers and deputy ministers, including Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), and Didit Prabowo, son of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto Kompas.com.

Also present were Deputy Minister for Creative Economy Irene Umar Li and Deputy Minister for Higher Education for Science and Technology Stella Christie Kompas.com.

Event Highlights

Upon arrival, Gibran received a briefing from Deputy Minister Stella Christie regarding the event’s proceedings Kompas.com. He then proceeded to the VVIP room to observe the Harmony of Nusantara Chinese New Year 2026 performance.

Inside the VVIP room, Gibran greeted and shook hands with guests, including Chairman of the National Economic Council Luhut Binsar Panjaitan Kompas.com. Other attendees included Coordinating Minister for PMK Pratikno, Chairman of the Indonesian DPD Sultan Najamuddin, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong, and various business leaders.

The event commenced with the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, followed by a series of dance performances and lion dance (Barongsai) attractions Kompas.com.

Parade and Cultural Display

Prior to the evening’s celebration, a parade took place around Banteng Square. The parade was opened by Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar, accompanied by Deputy Ministers Irene Umar Li and Stella Christie, as well as several regional heads VOI.

The parade featured a diverse range of Indonesian cultural performances, including lion dances from various regions, ondel-ondel, Reog Ponorogo, pencak silat, and other traditional arts Kompas.com.
