Gmail Increases Attachment Limit for Enterprise Plus Users

For the first time in over a decade, Gmail is raising its attachment limit, though the change won’t affect all users. The update, announced on February 24, 2026, doubles the sending limit for Enterprise Plus accounts to 50 MB and increases the receiving limit to 70 MB. What the New Limit Changes

Enterprise Plus users can now directly attach files up to 50 MB in size to emails, streamlining the process of sharing large presentations, spreadsheets and high-resolution PDFs without relying on Google Drive links. The receiving limit increase to 70 MB improves interoperability with external senders using other messaging platforms. Who Remains Unchanged?

The majority of Gmail users will not see any changes. Free Gmail accounts, as well as Google Workspace Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, and Enterprise Standard plans, will retain the existing 25 MB sending limit. Technical Considerations

It’s important to note that the MIME and base64 encoding used by the email protocol inflates the actual size of a file by approximately one-third. A 50 MB limit effectively allows for raw files of around 35 MB, not including the space taken up by signatures, footers, and conversation histories. Mailmeteor
