Google Play Store Blocks 1.75 Million Malicious Apps and Developer Accounts in 2025
Google has significantly ramped up its efforts to maintain the security and integrity of the Google Play Store, blocking over 1.75 million applications that violated its policies throughout 2025. The company too terminated more than 80,000 fraudulent developer accounts attempting to publish malicious applications, according to a recent report.

Beyond blocking applications and developer accounts, Google proactively prevented over 255,000 apps from gaining excessive access to sensitive user data.
