Following last month’s declaration, the migration of Google keep reminders too Google Tasks is slowly rolling out.
So far, this is only available on one Google Account of the several we checked today. The company previously mentioned a “second half of 2025” date, so it’s hopefully complete before year’s end. You’ll see a “Reminders are now Google Tasks” prompt once it’s rolled out to your device.
Google Keep is getting a Tasks Integration to Replace Reminders
Google is rolling out a new integration between Google Keep and Google Tasks, effectively replacing the existing Reminders feature within Keep. This change streamlines task management by leveraging the dedicated Tasks app for reminders tied to your notes.
Currently,Keep allows you to set reminders directly within notes. The update shifts this functionality, allowing you to create tasks from Keep notes that sync with the Google tasks app and appear in your Google Calendar.
Here’s how it works: when you set a reminder in keep, it will now create a task in Google Tasks. After setting, reminders will appear in the Google Tasks app and Google Calendar grid with a “From Keep” label. Tapping the badge conveniently opens the note for speedy access.
Google Keep also retains the “Reminders” page (list or grid view) accessible from the navigation drawer. If you delete inside Keep, Google will ask if you want to remove both the task reminder and note, or just the task.
Google Tasks Migration from Google Keep: Things to Know
Migrating reminders from Google Keep to Google Tasks is generally a straightforward process, with location being the primary difference. However, there are several vital details to be aware of during the transition.
Key Considerations:
* Title Updates: Changing the title of a Keep note will not automatically update the corresponding reminder title in Google Tasks.
* Task Limits: Google Tasks has a limit of 100,000 tasks. If you have more reminders in Google Keep than this, the oldest reminders will not be migrated.
* Reminder Length: Long Keep reminders will have their titles shortened after migrating to Tasks.
* Pending Tasks: reminders from the last 365 days that are still pending will be found in the “All-day” section of your Google Calendar for the current day.
* Repeating Tasks: Tasks that repeat more frequently than every 1,000 days, weeks, months, or years will have their recurrence schedule adjusted to a maximum of every 1,000 units of time. Such as,a task repeating every 2,000 days will be adjusted to repeat every 1,000 days. Reminders that don’t repeat and are older than a year will be added to a list called “Old Google Keep Reminders.”
* Future Dates: Tasks with dates set beyond the year 3000 will be adjusted to the year 2900.
