Pierre Governors Face Tough Road Tests Against Harrisburg and O’Gorman
The Pierre Governor boys basketball team embarks on a challenging weekend road trip, heading to the Sioux Falls area to face Harrisburg tonight and O’Gorman on Saturday. Following a stretch of three consecutive home games, the Governors will test their mettle against two formidable opponents with winning records.
Pierre comes into the weekend having secured victories in two of their last three contests,including a recent 72-68 win over Aberdeen Central on Tuesday. They will face a Harrisburg team currently holding a 7-3 record and sitting in sixth place in the AA standings. The Tigers have demonstrated strong form, winning four of their last five games, highlighted by a narrow 46-43 victory over Brandon valley on January 13th. the Governors previously faced Harrisburg, resulting in a loss last Thursday.
Saturday’s matchup pits the Governors against the 6-4 O’Gorman Knights. O’Gorman is also riding a wave of success, having won four of their last five games, most recently defeating Yankton 44-42 on tuesday.Notably, the Knights secured a decisive 64-38 win against Aberdeen Central on January 20th. their recent losses have come against top-ranked Roosevelt and Watertown, currently holding a combined record of only two losses, demonstrating the strength of their schedule.
Both games are expected to present meaningful challenges for the Governors, playing in perhaps unfriendly environments. However, victories this weekend could provide a substantial boost in momentum as the season progresses.
Tonight’s game against Harrisburg is scheduled for a 7:00 PM tip-off. On Saturday, the Governors will face O’Gorman with a 3:00 PM start time.
