GS Adriatico Basket: “Storia di una passione dal 1959” Book Launch in Ancona

GS Adriatico Basket celebrated over sixty years of sporting history with the launch of the book “Storia di una passione dal 1959” during a presentation event at the Cinema Teatro Dorico in Ancona. Curated by Orlando Natalucci and Angelo Burdo, the volume documents the club’s history.

Institutional Support for Ancona’s Sporting Heritage

Local government and sports officials attended the event to recognize the club’s impact on the city. According to event records, attendees included Ancona Deputy Mayor and Sports Councilor Giovanni Zinni, Sports Facilities Councilor Daniele Berardinelli, and Councilor Marco Polenta, who represented Italian Basketball Federation President Maurizio Biondini. Marco Masi, a member of the Giunta Regionale Coni Marche, attended on behalf of President Fabio Luna.

These officials characterized the initiative as a celebration of a “patrimony of values” that extends beyond the athletic achievements of the club to benefit the broader Ancona community.

Curators Orlando Natalucci and Angelo Burdo developed the book through a process of collecting testimonies, photographs, and anecdotes to preserve the collective memory of the organization. The presentation featured first-hand accounts from figures who shaped the club’s trajectory:

• Claudio Sordoni: A historic coach of GS Adriatico who shared experiences and memories.
• Roberto Masi: A manager who grew up basketball-wise in the society and detailed the impact of the club on his life.
• Daniela Calisti: Daughter of founder Dr. Guido Calisti, who testified to her father’s commitment to teaching youth the importance of teamwork and belonging.

The event was moderated by Andrea Carloni and featured the current youth male and female teams, accompanied by club President Marco Gasparrini, to symbolize the continuity between the club’s past and present.

Charitable Contributions and Book Availability

The project integrates social responsibility by donating the proceeds from the book’s sale to the Associazione Pallacanestro Jesi New Baskin. During the event, coach Luca Allegrini emphasized that basketball should serve as an inclusive sport capable of removing barriers for all participants.
