Guala Closures Expands Manufacturing in Mexico to Serve Growing U.S. Wine and Spirits Market
Milan, Italy – February 23, 2026 – Guala Closures, a leading global provider of closure solutions for beverages and pharmaceuticals, has acquired Vinventions’ screwcap production facility in Rosarito, Mexico. This strategic expansion strengthens the company’s North American manufacturing footprint and enhances its ability to serve the increasing demand from U.S. Wine and spirits producers.
Expanding Capacity and Capabilities
The Rosarito plant, established in 2024, is a state-of-the-art facility specializing in the production of high-quality 30×60 aluminum closures, with an installed capacity exceeding 200 million units annually and potential for further growth. Guala Closures states the acquisition will provide additional capacity to support its U.S. Customers, ensuring shorter lead times and improved customer service under favorable trade conditions.
Strategic Location and Customer Focus
The location in Rosarito, south of Tijuana on the Pacific coast, offers strategic access to the North American market. Formes de Luxe reports that this allows Guala Closures to be closer to U.S. Customers and respond more effectively to their needs, particularly those of small and medium-sized winemakers seeking tailored, local, and flexible supply options.
Growth Strategy in North America
“This investment marks a significant milestone in advancing our growth strategy for the North American wine closures market,” said Andrea Lodetti, CEO of Guala Closures. “Establishing a dedicated production site in Mexico, which adds to our existing plant in San José Iturbide, allows us to be closer to our U.S. Customers and respond more effectively to their needs.”
Long-Standing Presence in Mexico
Guala Closures has been operating in Mexico since 1979 with the establishment of Guala Closures Mexico. Combined with the Fairfield facility in North America, the company is well-positioned to serve wine and spirits customers across the U.S. Market. LinkedIn highlights the acquisition’s role in reducing lead times and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
U.S. Wine Market a Priority
Alongside spirits, the U.S. Wine market remains a key growth area for Guala Closures, demonstrating consistent performance and strong results in recent years. The company anticipates continued demand growth and is laying the groundwork for further expansion.
