Guatemala City, February 19 (AGN).—The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA), through the Tob’anik Credit program, has benefited a total of 887 farmers as of February 19, 2026, according to official data from the National Mortgage Credit (CHN) portal.

The Tob’anik Credit program aims to improve access to financing, strengthening agricultural production and rural development throughout the country.

Program Beneficiaries

Of the 887 farmers benefiting from the program, 386 are medium-sized producers and 499 are small farmers. Two records currently lack classification.

The program has seen sustained growth, increasing from 737 beneficiaries in December 2025 to 887 in just over a month, indicating increased credit placement within the agricultural sector.

Financed Crops and Regional Distribution

Coffee cultivation is the primary beneficiary of the credit program, with 693 producers receiving financing. The department of Santa Rosa leads in access to these productive financing options, with 130 registered farmers.

Disbursement of Funds

As of February 19, 2026, a total of 64 million 546 thousand 24 quetzales has been disbursed to medium producers, representing 66.71% of the total funds placed. Small farmers have received 32 million 106 thousand 595 quetzales, equivalent to 33.18% of the total. A small amount of 107 thousand quetzales (0.11%) remains unclassified.

Program Funding and Average Loan Amount

The Tob’anik Credit program operates with a total fund of 500 million quetzales. 421 million 950 thousand quetzales have been authorized for distribution to 10 financial entities. To date, 176 million 450 thousand quetzales have been disbursed, with financial entities transferring 96 million 759 thousand 619 quetzales directly to farmers.

This translates to an approximate average of 109 thousand 86 quetzales per producer, though the actual amount varies based on individual needs and project proposals.

Accessing the Tob’anik Credit

The program utilizes authorized savings and credit cooperatives to ensure financing reaches rural communities effectively. Interested farmers can find a list of available cooperatives at creditotobanik.gob.gt.
