Gumloop Secures $50 Million to Democratize AI Automation in the Enterprise

Gumloop, a no-code AI agent builder, has raised $50 million in Series B funding led by Benchmark, with participation from Nexus VP, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, Box Group, The Cannon Project and Shopify. The investment reflects growing demand for tools that empower non-technical employees to automate complex tasks using artificial intelligence.

The Rise of No-Code AI Automation

Founded in mid-2023, Gumloop initially aimed to simplify AI-powered task automation for users without coding experience. As AI technology has advanced, Gumloop’s platform has evolved to enable teams at companies like Shopify, Ramp, Gusto, Samsara, Instacart, and Opendoor to deploy AI agents capable of handling multi-step processes autonomously Gumloop.

Shopify’s Company-Wide Adoption

Shopify piloted Gumloop as part of its broader AI strategy to encourage employee adoption of automation tools. The platform’s capabilities and ease of use led to a rapid, company-wide rollout. Shopify employees, even those without technical backgrounds, are now building workflows that are used thousands of times, accelerating the launch and iteration of new initiatives Gumloop.

Benchmark’s Investment Thesis

Everett Randle, a general partner at Benchmark, believes that empowering all workers with AI tools is crucial for success. He chose to lead Gumloop’s Series B investment based on the platform’s intuitive agent-builder and its potential to unlock widespread automation. Randle noted that a customer of Gumloop chose the platform over competitors after giving employees access to multiple tools; employees consistently favored Gumloop due to its minimal learning curve TechCrunch.

Model-Agnostic Approach and Enterprise Opportunity

Gumloop’s model-agnostic approach—allowing users to select the best AI model for a specific task—is a key differentiator. This flexibility also allows enterprises to leverage existing investments in various AI platforms, such as OpenAI, Gemini, and Anthropic. Randle emphasized the significant potential of enterprise automation, calling it a “massive pot of gold” and the largest category in enterprise AI TechCrunch.

Competition and Future Growth

Whereas Gumloop faces competition from established automation platforms like Zapier and n8n, as well as specialized agent builders like Dust and offerings from AI labs like Anthropic, its organic adoption and ease of use position it for continued growth. The company is expanding its sales and engineering teams to meet increasing demand TechCrunch.
