Gotham FC Secures Norwegian Star Guro Reiten from Chelsea

Jersey City, N.J. – Gotham FC has announced the signing of Norwegian international Guro Reiten from Chelsea FC, the club announced Thursday. The 31-year-old joins Gotham FC on an initial loan, with a permanent deal set to follow.

A Decorated Career with Chelsea

Reiten departs Chelsea after six and a half seasons, having joined the Blues in the summer of 2019 from LSK Kvinner in Norway. During her time with Chelsea, she established herself as a key player, winning six Women’s Super League titles, four FA Cups, and three League Cups. She scored 59 goals in 207 appearances for the club.

Despite her success, Reiten saw her playing time decrease under current Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor, starting only three WSL matches this season.

Move to Gotham FC: Loan and Future Contract

Reiten’s move to Gotham FC is structured as an initial loan through July, coinciding with the expiration of her contract with Chelsea. Following the conclusion of her loan, she will sign a deal with Gotham FC that extends through the 2029 NWSL season. ,
