We work together to make the area around the studio famous and cooperate in revitalizing the local economy.
Attention will be paid to whether a clever plan will be devised to utilize the old Dreamland site, which has been abandoned for a long time.
【Wonju】The old Dreamland site in Socho-myeon, Wonju, which has been abandoned for a long time, is rapidly emerging as a filming location for movies and dramas.
M83 Film Studio and Socho-myeon Haggok Village Council announced on the 10th that they signed a business agreement to revitalize the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province’s video industry and revitalize the local economy.
This agreement includes cooperation to build film and drama industry facilities in Hakgok Village.
The studio cooperates in revitalizing the local economy by prioritizing the participation of local residents and basic industries in order to create infrastructure for the film industry in Hakgok Village. Hakgok Village decided to actively cooperate in the construction of industrial facilities and filming work at the studio.
In particular, the two sides agreed to work on improving the surrounding area and creating landscapes to make the area around the filming site famous and create tourism resources, and also agreed on joint marketing of local specialties.
The permitting process is in progress for the construction of a 1,600㎡ indoor VFX (Visual Effects) studio within the Dreamland site on the M83 side.
Go Hong-yeol, the head of Hakgok Village, expressed, “In a situation where Dreamland has been neglected for a long time, M83’s proposal to create a movie filming location that co-exists with the village has led to the conclusion of this agreement after deliberation by residents. I hope that this will lead to economic revitalization, including job creation in the village, as a starting point.”
Munrudo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of M83, said, “This agreement will be an exemplary win-win model in which the film studio’s various industries and local communities work closely together to increase local brand value.”
Meanwhile, in Socho-myeon, two works scheduled to be aired on a terrestrial broadcaster and a global OTT are being filmed, and more than four blockbuster works are scheduled to be filmed this year.
