Casting Call: Seeking Actors for Cultural Performance
Seeking actors for a performance incorporating Mongolian and Navajo traditions. A small stipend of $300.00 will be provided per role. video recording will take place during Week One only for two roles; these actors will not be required for Week Two or the live performance.
Roles Available:
1. BAYAR (Mongolian)
* Gender: Male
* Age: Young Man (specific age not detailed)
* Description: Bayar is a young man from a mongolian cultural tradition preparing for battle. This role is a ceremonial farewell and rite of passage, involving song and ritual too honor ancestors, family, and legacy. The ideal candidate will possess emotional depth,strength,courage,and readiness,and be comfortable with physical and ceremonial storytelling.
2. MR. BEGAY (Navajo)
* Gender: Male
* Age: 40s-70s
* description: A Navajo elder and storyteller who will demonstrate and explain the creation of a customary tsiiyeel (Navajo hair bun) and its cultural and spiritual importance. The role requires a warm, wise, grounded actor with quiet authority, humor, and emotional depth. This is a video-only role.
3. YOUNG MAN (Navajo)
* Gender: Male
* Age: Late teens-20s
* description: A young navajo man learning the meaning and technique of creating the tsiiyeel hair bun from Mr. Begay. The actor should be curious, respectful, and open-hearted, portraying the passing of tradition between generations. This is a video-only role.
Compensation: $300.00 per gig.
Note: Tsiiyeel is the Navajo term for a traditional hair bun.
