Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s Exchange Goes Permanent, Expanding Customization Options

Players of Halo: The Master Chief Collection (MCC) will soon have greater access to customization options thanks to a significant update to the game’s Exchange feature. 343 Industries has unlocked the vast majority of Exchange content for permanent purchase, eliminating the previous rotational system and addressing player feedback regarding limited-time availability.

What is The Exchange?

The Exchange, first introduced in MCC, allows players to earn and redeem Spartan Points for cosmetic items. These points are acquired through gameplay, providing a direct path to unlocking new armor, skins, and other customization options. The system mirrors a similar feature found in Halo Infinite .

Permanent Content Availability

Previously, content within The Exchange rotated regularly, creating a “fear of missing out” (FOMO) for players hoping to acquire specific items. As of February 27, 2026, almost all available content is now permanently available for purchase using Spartan Points . This means players can acquire desired items at any time, without the pressure of limited-time windows.

Rare and Previously Unavailable Items

The update also reintroduces content that was previously only available for a limited time. Notable examples include:

  • Avalanche Sniper Rifle (Halo 3 Recon Slayer Season 4: Reclaimer reward)
  • Halo 4 Battle Rifle (BLS skin)
  • Halo 4 DMR (BLD skin)
  • Seasonal/rotational nameplates

These items, and others, are now accessible to all players simply by logging into Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Quarterly Rotational Bundles

While the majority of content is now permanent, a minor selection of bundles will continue to rotate on a quarterly schedule:

  • Quarter 1 (Jan 1 – Mar 31): Grunt Plush Back Accessory, OGX Magnum Skin, X-Pack Back Accessory
  • Quarter 2 (Apr 1 – Jun 30): Grunt Plush Back Accessory, OGX Magnum Skin, X-Pack Back Accessory
  • Quarter 3 (Jul 1 – Sep 30): OGX Shotgun Skin, OGX Rocket Launcher Skin, Taygetus Dory Back Accessory
  • Quarter 4 (Oct 1 – Dec 31): OGX Shotgun Skin, OGX Rocket Launcher Skin, Taygetus Dory Back Accessory

Earning Spartan Points

Players can earn Spartan Points by playing Halo: The Master Chief Collection. While specific methods for optimizing point gain are available , the primary method is consistent engagement with the game.

The Exchange inventory is now more accessible than ever, allowing players to customize their Spartans with a wider range of options. Keep an eye on the quarterly rotations for the remaining limited-time bundles.
