Hamburg-Berlin Rail Line Renovation Delayed Indefinitely

The comprehensive renovation of the railway line between Hamburg and Berlin has been indefinitely delayed due to severe winter weather hindering underground cable construction for signaling systems, Deutsche Bahn announced on Monday, February 16, 2026. The renovation of the 280-kilometer (approximately 174-mile) rail line, which traverses five German federal states, began in August 2025. Winter Weather Causes Significant Delays
