Lemgo Marches to Pokal Final4 with Win Over Leipzig
The sensation doesn’t materialize. SC DHfK leipzig lost their “away home game” in the cup quarter-final against TBV Lemgo Lippe 27:35 (11:14) and can now fully concentrate on the relegation battle in the Handball Bundesliga. Lemgo crowns its outstanding season with a place in the Final4.
The game had to take place in dresden, 120 kilometers from Leipzig, as the home Quarterback Immobilien Arena was occupied by the show “Holiday on Ice.” 2700 fans created a deafening atmosphere in the sold-out BallsportARENA of the Saxon state capital, normally home to second-division team HC Elbflorenz.
The match gets off to a lively start. Leipzig’s Moritz Preuss takes a shot from Tim Suton in the face while defending. the line player shakes it off and continues (3rd minute). Shortly after, Bobby Schagen scores to make it 1:3.
Then Leipzig shakes itself and equalizes at 5:5 with the third goal from new signing Dean bombac. After Domenico Ebner’s third save – the goalkeeper who will play for Lemgo next season – Lucas Krzikalla even gives SC DHfK the lead for the first time at 6:5 (11th minute). But Lemgo, currently third in the Handball Bundesliga, makes it increasingly arduous for the bottom of the table to score. Especially as Constantin Möstl (7 saves before the break) is also performing brilliantly.
