Renowned teddy bear artist Miki Bears has announced her upcoming collection for the “British Gathering Friends” exhibition, scheduled to run from October 7 to October 20 at the Hankyu Department Store Umeda Main Store in Osaka, according to the artist’s official studio announcements. The showcase features meticulously crafted miniature and traditional-style bears inspired by classic British motifs.
Miniature Collectible Teddy Bear Design Details
The centerpiece of Miki Bears’ Hankyu exhibition entry is a 12-centimeter miniature teddy bear crafted from distressed mohair. According to the artist’s production notes, the piece features hand and foot pads made of ultrasuede, complemented by brown and black glass eyes and stainless steel ball weighting for a balanced hand-feel. The miniature bear wears a removable shirt adorned with hand-embroidered roses paired with matching suspender trousers. The design draws aesthetic inspiration from a piece that earned Miki Bears a gold medal in the under-15cm category at the 2019 Teddy Bear Convention. The updated pattern incorporates classic proportions alongside the floral embroidery, honoring the rose as the national flower of Great Britain.
Traditional Sooty Bear Replicas
Complementing the miniature collection is a 15-centimeter Sooty Bear reproduction made from straight mohair. Miki Bears’ version features urban glass eyes in a distinct reddish-orange hue and is accessorized with a Union Jack charm and antique lace. According to the studio’s schedule, an additional Sooty Bear piece from the same production batch is slated for consignment at the Dear Bear store in Meguro starting October 23, featuring subtle variations in glass eye coloration.
