FC Barcelona Equals Historic Start With Victory Over Real Betis
FC Barcelona secured a 5-2 victory against Betis at La Cartuja, matching Real Madrid’s record start from the 1968/69 season with nine wins to start the 2026/27 La Liga campaign. Hansi Flick’s squad equalled the milestone by scoring 39 goals and conceding nine across their first nine matches. Real Madrid’s 1968/69 run featured 21 goals scored in their opening nine fixtures.
The result surpasses a previous benchmark set during the 2013/14 season. A Barcelona side coached by Gerardo ‘Tata Martino’ and featuring Leo Messi, Pedro, and Neymar opened that campaign with eight victories before being held to a goalless draw against Osasuna in Pamplona.
