Maguire Hails Carrick’s Impact Following Stunning Victory
Manchester United captain Harry Maguire lauded interim manager Michael Carrick following a dramatic late win against league leaders. Maguire emphasized the significance of the victory, stating it was crucial to demonstrate resilience after a previous derby result at Old Trafford.
“This is absolutely massive,” Maguire told Sky sports after the match. “We knew the first game, the derby at Old Trafford, is always passionate, and results can happen occasionally. We had to prove that again today.”
Maguire highlighted the challenge posed by the opposition, acknowledging their strong form throughout the year. “we talked about it before the game, coming to the league leaders, who have been outstanding this year. They really test you. To come here and turn things around in the last minute to get the win was an incredible performance.”
The United captain credited Carrick with instilling a renewed sense of energy and belief within the squad. “Michael [Carrick] coming in has been brilliant with us. He’s brought fresh energy, and the group has really risen. Everyone probably thought we wouldn’t take home many points from these two tough games, but to win both was amazing.”
carrick, though, downplayed his own influence, acknowledging the early stage of his tenure. “It’s only been 10 days, and we know it won’t be perfect,” he said. “We’re just getting started, and this is a good starting point. We need to add layers of quality in the coming weeks, and we’ll try to do that.”
