Harry Styles Surprises Ryan Gosling on SNL Ahead of Hosting Gig
Ryan Gosling’s monologue on Saturday Night Live took an unexpected turn on March 7th when Harry Styles made a surprise appearance, upstaging the “Barbie” star just a week before his own hosting and musical guest debut.
Styles Crashes Gosling’s Monologue
Gosling, hosting the show for the fourth time, was discussing his upcoming film, Project Hail Mary, when he noticed Styles in the audience. “Is that Harry Styles?” Gosling asked, prompting a roar from the crowd. “What are you doing here, man?”
Styles explained he was preparing for his own hosting appearance the following week. “Well, I’m hosting next week, and it’s been a although, so I just wanted to watch, get a feel for it,” he said.
A Monologue Hijacked by Styles’ Coolness
Gosling playfully lamented the distraction, joking, “Your coolness is becoming a bit of an issue.” The monologue continued to be playfully disrupted by Styles’ presence, with the camera frequently cutting to the singer as Gosling attempted to discuss his film and even launch into a song. Gosling quipped, “I’m sorry, why are we on Harry’s side?”
At one point, the show displayed a split screen of both stars, but when Gosling requested it be removed, the camera focused solely on Styles, highlighting the audience’s enthusiasm for the upcoming host.
Musical Interlude and Upcoming Hosting Duties
The playful tension culminated in Gosling leading the SNL cast in a performance of Styles’ hit song, “Sign of the Times,” before transitioning into his own song, “I’m Just Ken” from the Barbie soundtrack.
Styles is set to host and perform as the musical guest on the March 14th episode of Saturday Night Live. He recently released his fourth studio album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, on Friday, marking his first album release in four years.
