– Resuscitation was attempted, but unfortunately the woman’s life could not be saved. She was taken to the hospital, and declared dead just before 9 p.m., says police attorney Fredrik Martin Soma in a press release.
The deceased is a woman in her 30s.
A woman in her 40s was arrested at the scene. She is charged with murder. According to the police, there must be a family relationship between the accused and the deceased.
– It is a family relationship, and I think we can say something more about it quite quickly, but we want to wait, police attorney Fredrik Martin Soma tells NTB.
Soma states that the police have several hypotheses, but that they believe there is a basis for a murder charge.
– The cause of death is too early to say anything about, says the police attorney, who states that the charges are based on observations from the police and health personnel who came to the scene, as well as from others.
The police operations center was notified of the incident via AMK just before 8pm on Friday. It was a passerby who had called. Both the police and an ambulance rushed to the scene.
– Passers-by noticed noise from the address which makes them find reason to notify the emergency services, Soma tells Haugesund’s newspaper.
The police further tell the newspaper that the deceased was found indoors, and that the accused was arrested following observations from both the police and a doctor at the scene.
– The woman was at the scene. She was then presented for medical supervision as a result of her mental condition, and was subjected to a physical examination, says Soma, who does not want to elaborate on what this entails.
The police specify that they are in a very early phase of the investigation, and therefore cannot release any further information in the case at this time.
