Prison Chief Suspended Over alleged Dog Meat Incident

Jakarta,CNN Indonesia — The head of the Enemawira Correctional Institution (Lapas) in the Sangihe Islands,Chandra Sudarto,has been suspended from his position on suspicion of forcing muslim inmates to eat dog meat.

the suspension followed an inspection conducted on November 27, 2025.

“the Head of Enemawira Prison, identified by the initials CS, was inspected by the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections, North Sulawesi, on November 27, 2025. On the same day, CS was relieved of his duties and appointed as acting Head of Enemawira Prison,” said rika aprianti, head of the Sub-Directorate of Cooperation and Public Services of the Directorate General of Corrections, in a written statement on Tuesday, December 2nd.

Aprianti stated that on November 28th,her office issued a summons for an examination and ethics trial at the Directorate General of correction.
