Flu Cases Surge in Madrid, masks Recommended

the incidence of the flu continues to rise in the Community of Madrid and has already easily surpassed the epidemic threshold. This has prompted the Ministry of Health to reinforce preventive recommendations,including the use of masks in health centers starting next Monday. The K strain of flu that is proliferating this year makes it more transmissible, and the peak of infections has not yet arrived.

According to the latest data from the epidemiological bulletin, corresponding to week 49 of 2025, the incidence rate stands at 275.36 cases per 100,000 inhabitants – well above the epidemic threshold established at 22.38.in that same week, 19,301 new cases of flu were reported, wich is 11,429 more than the previous week, bringing the cumulative total of the 2025/2026 season to 35,560 cases.
