Health Net Invests $4.4 Million to Expand Job Training and Community Services in Los Angeles County
LOS ANGELES, March 18, 2026 – Health Net, a Medi-Cal managed care health plan and a Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC) company, has announced a $4.4 million investment in NewGen Administrative Services LLC. This investment aims to improve a facility in Los Angeles County, enhancing access to job training, housing support, and community-based services.
Facility Improvements and Program Expansion
The investment will focus on upgrading a Lancaster facility that serves as a central hub for vocational training, residential services, and community programming. Originally a university, the site has been repurposed to provide housing, case management, supportive services, and job training opportunities. Improvements will enable programs to operate at full capacity and serve clients more effectively and safely.
Specific improvements include:
- Modernization of vocational classrooms and instructional spaces for job training, certification programs, and individualized case work.
- Renovation of common areas to support daily services and counseling.
- Building renovations to create new or expanded facilities, including reconfigured classrooms and dedicated support spaces.
Addressing Critical Community Needs
“Programs that support people as they prepare for work, housing stability, and successful reentry play a critical role in community health,” said Dorothy Seleski, Medi-Cal President at Health Net. “By investing in service providers like NewGen, we’re strengthening the spaces and systems that care teams rely on to deliver support that is personal and culturally-centered. It’s one way we continue showing up for communities with care that goes beyond the clinic walls.”
Mariela Pizzatti, Vice President of Operations at NewGen Administrative Services, emphasized the importance of facility conditions for those they serve. “This funding helps us produce real improvements to the spaces where people live, learn and prepare for work as they reintegrate into society. We thank Health Net for investing in the long-term strength of our organization and the communities we serve.”
Collaboration and Community Impact
The investment addresses challenges faced by providers of job training, residential programs, and support services in maintaining facilities and planning for growth. The coordinated delivery of job training, housing, and support services is crucial for individuals seeking to develop skills, stabilize their lives, and access healthcare within their communities.
California State Senator Suzette Valladares (R-Santa Clarita) highlighted the investment’s broader impact: “This investment in NewGen strengthens the foundation of community care in Los Angeles County by improving the spaces where critical services and workforce development occur every day. By supporting the improvement of facilities and service infrastructure, we support ensure that individuals and families can access high-quality, coordinated care close to their homes and that the staff who provide this care have the resources they need to do their jobs successfully.”
Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger added, “When people have safe places to learn, train and rebuild their lives, the entire community benefits. This investment promotes successful reentry and workforce readiness, two of the most effective ways to create safer, healthier neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County.”
Health Net’s Commitment to Community Health
This initiative aligns with Health Net’s broader strategy to improve health outcomes by strengthening systems and organizations that support Medi-Cal enrollees and other vulnerable populations. Investments in community infrastructure are seen as a critical component in building a more resilient and responsive health and social services ecosystem.
