‘Heated Rivalry’ Cottage Now Available to Rent on Airbnb

Fans of the hit HBO Max series “Heated Rivalry” can now book a stay at the iconic Barlochan Cottage in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada. The six-room cottage, featured prominently in the present’s finale, will be available for rent on Airbnb starting March 3.

A Romantic Getaway Brought to Life

The cottage served as a secluded retreat for the show’s central characters, Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Conor Storrie), as they navigated their secret relationship away from the pressures of professional hockey and public scrutiny. The series positions the cottage as Shane’s secluded summer refuge near Montreal, but the actual filming location is in Muskoka, Ontario.

Cottage Amenities and Location

Barlochan Cottage boasts nearly 400 feet of private waterfront on Lake Muskoka, offering stunning Muskoka sunsets. The property features a sandy shallow-entry beach, rocky shoreline, and multiple outdoor seating areas, including a fire pit. Inside, guests will find an open-concept layout with soaring ceilings, a bright kitchen with island seating, a dining area for eight, two fireplaces, a Muskoka room, a rec room with theater chairs and a TV, and an exercise room with overflow sleeping space.

The cottage includes three queen bedrooms and three bathrooms. Amenities also include kayaks, canoes, and boating access to Muskoka’s “Big 3” lakes, making it an ideal getaway for families or groups seeking comfort and privacy.

Booking Details and Pricing

Reservations for Barlochan Cottage opened on March 3. The listing can be booked for $248.10 CAD (approximately $180 USD) per night, a nod to the jersey numbers of Shane (24) and Ilya (81). Airbnb is offering early access bookings for stays from May 8-10, May 16-18, May 22-24, and May 29-31 before opening up regular bookings. Variety and Los Angeles Times reported on the availability.

Impact on Muskoka Tourism

The popularity of “Heated Rivalry” has significantly boosted interest in Muskoka as a tourist destination. Val Hamilton, executive director of Muskoka Tourism, noted a strong desire among viewers to experience cottage life firsthand. Muskoka Tourism launched a “Come to the Cottage” campaign, which generated over 11 million impressions in the Greater Toronto Area and increased website traffic and social media engagement. Realtor.com highlighted the increased attention.

Beyond ‘Heated Rivalry’

The success of the show has reinforced Muskoka Tourism’s focus on screen tourism. The organization is actively tracking productions filmed in the region and preparing for the release of “Sterling Point,” a new Amazon Prime series filmed entirely in Muskoka later this year.
