Héma-Québec Schedules Blood Donor Clinics Across the Beauce Region
Héma-Québec is holding a series of blood donor clinics throughout the region over the coming weeks, enbeauce.com reported. Appointments are strongly recommended for individuals wishing to donate blood. However, donors who are passing by a collection site and have available time can check with on-site staff to see if walk-in spots are open. The schedule begins on Thursday, October 29, at the Centre municipal in Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon. The clinic runs from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with an objective of collecting donations from 70 donors. The schedule continues into November with four additional dates across the region:
* Monday, November 2: Salle SBC of the Centre récréatif Desjardins in Saint-Prosper, from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Target: 90 donors.
* Monday, November 16: Aréna Marcel Dutil in Saint-Gédéon, from 2:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Target: 60 donors.
* Friday, November 20: Complexe multifonctionnel in Saint-Éphrem, from 2:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Target: 100 donors. * Tuesday, November 24: Salle Desjardins of the Centre Frameco in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, from 2:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Target: 100 donors.
Preparation and Eligibility Requirements
Donors should prepare properly in the hours leading up to their appointment. Héma-Québec advises drinking a minimum of 500 milliliters of water or juice and eating a substantial meal while avoiding fatty foods. Wearing loose clothing with sleeves that roll up above the elbow helps facilitate the donation process.
Attendees must bring either a donor card or another valid piece of identification. Selection criteria for blood donation remain strict, and individuals can review the full eligibility guidelines directly on the Héma-Québec website.
