Hidalgo Schools Launch Influenza and COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign

Hidalgo has launched a state-sponsored immunization initiative across basic education schools to protect students and educational staff against influenza and COVID-19. The Instituto Hidalguense de Educación (IHE), led by Natividad Castrejón Valdez, is coordinating the rollout in collaboration with multiple health sector institutions, News Hidalgo reported.

The immunization drive kicked off at the Benito Torres Oropeza Primary School in Pachuca. This initial rollout operates in coordination with the state representation of the Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE).

Participating Health Agencies and Vaccine Rollout Timeline

Several public health bodies are pooling resources for the statewide campaign. Participating agencies include the ISSSTE, IMSS Bienestar, standard IMSS, Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), and the Health Services of Hidalgo.

The campaign runs from October 12, 2026, to April 2, 2027. Officials have installed vaccination modules directly at the entrances of basic education schools across the state to maximize accessibility for children and staff.

Immunization Targets Set Through April 2027

Organizers established explicit coverage benchmarks for the multi-month health effort. The campaign aims to vaccinate 70 percent of the target population by December 31, 2026. Health authorities plan to reach 100 percent coverage by the time the drive concludes on April 2, 2027.

Nancy Adriana León Vite, Subsecretary of Basic Education, emphasized the close collaboration between participating health and education agencies. She noted the ongoing commitment of education secretary Natividad Castrejón Valdez to the health of school communities across the state.

Officials Present at the Pachuca School Launch

Several state and institutional leaders attended the opening health event at the Pachuca primary school. María del Consuelo Cabrera Morales, subdelegate of the ISSSTE in Hidalgo, and Carlos García Contreras, linkage liaison for the Subsecretaría de Educación Básica, joined local educators for the launch.

With modules stationed at school gates, the participating institutions intend to broaden preventive health measures directly within the state’s school communities.

Rural Development and Agricultural Support Programs

During a state congressional appearance before the LXVI Legislature, the head of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hidalgo (Saderh), Napoleón González Pérez, reported that actions carried out under the administration of Julio Menchaca Salazar have officially benefited hundreds of thousands of rural families. Among the prominent initiatives, the Productive for Rural Women program received a substantial financial allocation to benefit tens of thousands of female producers.
