The National Medicines agency (ANSM) announced in June that any doctor could prescribe this medication from June 23. Its reimbursement will now be offered to people suffering from severe obesity.

The decision was made Tuesday evening by the high Health Authority. The HAS confirmed on Tuesday its favorable opinion on the reimbursement of the drug Mounjaro against obesity, after a re-evaluation of the file with new data provided by the American manufacturer Eli Lilly. Coverage by Health Insurance is particularly reserved for situations where changes in diet and increased physical activity are not enough to loose weight in people with a BMI of 35 or higher, or a BMI of 30 or higher with at least one co-morbidity.
