Fighter jet China locked their fire control radar on Japanese aircraft over international waters near the Okinawa islands, Japan. The incident was condemned by Japan’s Defence Minister as ‘dangerous’.
“This radar guidance goes beyond what is necessary for safe aircraft flights,” Japanese Defense minister Shinjiro Koizumi said in a post on X.
Japan, he said, had lodged a protest with China over the ‘regrettable’ incident. A fire control radar lock is one of the most threatening actions a military aircraft can take as it signals a potential attack, forcing the targeted aircraft to take evasive action.
