Abstract: Recently, rock singer B’z lead singer Hiroshi Inaba announced that he will cover the theme song of the classic baseball animation “Baseball Heroes” as the official support song for the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC). The song will be played exclusively through Netflix during the game from March 5th to 18th to cheer for baseball fans around the world.
Recently, Netflix announced that B’z lead singer Hiroshi Inaba will lend his voice to the 2026 WBC event, re-interpreting the theme song “Touch” from the 1985 classic baseball animation “Baseball Heroes”. This classic song, which spans Japan’s Showa, Heisei and Reiwa eras, has become a symbol of Japanese baseball culture with its passionate melody and youthful sentiments. Inaba said: “On the basis of respecting the original version, I injected my own passion, hoping that this song can ignite the fighting spirit of players, coaches and audiences.” This cooperation is another major content created by Netflix for the event after Ken Watanabe (WBC ambassador) and Kazuya Ninomiya (special supporter). All 47 WBC matches will be broadcast live and replayed exclusively on Netflix Japan. The original song is the theme song of the animated version of the manga of the same name by Adachi Mitsuru, and new versions were released in 2007 and 2024. This time Inaba’s cover version will further extend its legendary vitality.
