VIK Falls to Björklöven in Tight Away Game

VIK delivered a strong away performance against league leaders Björklöven on Wednesday evening, but ultimately couldn’t overcome the challenges and fell to a 5-2 defeat.Despite a competitive showing, Gulsvart continues to search for consistent wins.

FIRST PERIOD
A promising start in umeå saw the teams tied 1-1 after 20 minutes, with VIK dominating the chance count 7-2 in 5-on-5 play. Karlsson set up guay,but the finish was lacking.
Loimaranta capitalized on the powerplay, creating an opportunity for Lawner. A sharp attack saw Annborn find Jansson,hitting the post,with Lawner nearly scoring on the rebound before Komarek’s class play set up Annborn for the 1-0 lead.
The team displayed good flow from the backline. Löven’s first chance came after nine minutes. Mylläri created a counterattack opportunity for Loimaranta.
The score became 1-1 when Norberg was careless behind the net, leading to a goal by Birgersson as the VIK players watched the puck.
A questionable penalty on Norberg followed, but Komarek and Loimaranta freed Lawner, who couldn’t quite convert. The question remained: how would Löven perform over the full 60 minutes?
THE SECOND PERIOD
VIK continued to play well in the second period, despite a difficult start to the first ten minutes.During Jakobsson’s pending penalty, Kvist lost his footing and Löven took a 1-2 lead.
Komarek and Loimaranta continued to create chances for Lawner, but the forwards frequently enough found themselves isolated.
Kvist’s carelessness behind his own net led to a hazardous situation. Annborn battled under Löven’s pressure, with the HV71 loan player showing both strengths and weaknesses.
Loimaranta’s brilliance set up Komarek, and the Finn also contributed to the powerplay.
The 2-2 equalizer came on the powerplay after sustained pressure from PP2,involving Karlsson and Svrcek. Kvist got the final touch, with good contributions from Jansson and Guay.
A strong shift from the fourth line saw Sjögren showing positive signs. Mylläri set up Jansson for a close scoring chance.
An unnecessary penalty in the attack zone by Friberg was quickly followed by a solid performance from Oschgan.
Löven won the chance count in the second period 5-4 in 5-on-5 play.
THE THIRD PERIOD
The third period began with another brilliant pass from Loimaranta, but Lawner struggled to find the net, missing several opportunities.
VIK continued to win the chance count 5-4 in 5-on-5 play, maintaining their strong drive.
Löven took a 2-3 lead after Jansson was perhaps too passive in front of Oschgan.
Svrcek was largely anonymous, but the Slovakian managed to find Jakobsson in a good central position. The referees then made several questionable calls.
They missed a clear trip on lawner and failed to blow the whistle for offside when Löven took the puck into the VIK zone.
