Honor Magic V6 Prioritizes Battery Life in Foldable Market

The Honor Magic V6 has arrived, marking a shift in focus for the foldable smartphone. Rather than relentlessly pursuing the title of “thinnest foldable,” Honor has prioritized a significantly larger battery capacity, approaching 7,000 mAh. This move addresses a key concern for foldable users – battery life – and sets it apart from competitors.

Design and Durability

At first glance, the Honor Magic V6 closely resembles the Magic V5 released in August 2025. The core design and much of the specification sheet remain consistent. It features a 7.95-inch inner display and a 6.52-inch outer display, alongside a 50MP + 64MP telephoto + 50MP ultra-wide camera system. The device is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and boasts IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance.

While the Magic V5 measured 9mm in thickness, and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 took the lead in thinness, the Honor Magic V6 measures 9mm for its red, black, and gold color variants, with the white option at 8.7mm when folded. Honor has deliberately moved away from solely focusing on minimizing thickness, recognizing that current foldables are already sufficiently slender.

Massive Battery Capacity

The most significant upgrade in the Magic V6 is its substantial 6,660 mAh battery. This capacity is considerably larger than many flagship smartphones currently available, and significantly exceeds the 4,400 mAh battery found in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The larger battery utilizes silicon-carbon technology and supports 80W fast charging, as well as wireless charging.

Early indications suggest excellent battery life, easily lasting a full day of typical use. While the Magic V5 already offered a 5,800+ mAh battery, this increase is still notable. Depending on usage patterns, some users may even achieve two days of use on a single charge.

Display Enhancements

Honor claims the Magic V6’s inner display features a 44% reduction in crease visibility, though a crease is still present, as with all current foldable devices. The inner display is also less reflective, and a latest structure is designed to improve impact resistance and overall durability. The outer display incorporates a “silicon nitride–based NanoCrystal Shield glass with up to 5,600 ultra-precise coating layers” for enhanced protection and anti-reflective properties. The device supports Honor’s stylus on both the inner and outer displays, and includes features like 4320 Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort.

Software and Ecosystem Integration

The Honor Magic V6 ships with MagicOS 10, based on Android 16. The software includes new sharing tools designed to seamlessly transfer files to iPhones or Macs wirelessly (requiring an app download on Apple products). It can also function as a second display for a Mac, and mirror notifications from the Honor phone to an Apple Watch.

Availability

The Honor Magic V6 will initially launch in China later in March 2026, with a global release planned for the second half of the year, dependent on market timelines. Honor also announced the MagicPad V4, a 12.3-inch Android tablet, which is the thinnest slate at 4.8mm. The MagicPad V4 is available for pre-order in the UK starting at £499.99 and in Europe for €599.99.
