Honor has introduced the Magic9 Super Edition in China, a variant of its flagship series featuring a substantial battery capacity and a slim 8.1 mm profile. Priced starting at 4,499 CNY (approximately $670), the device positions itself as a more accessible entry in the Magic9 lineup while maintaining high-end hardware specifications.
Technical Specifications and Performance
The Magic9 Super Edition is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This chipset is paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. To manage thermal output during intensive tasks, Honor has integrated a dedicated wind-tunnel cooling fan that works in conjunction with a circuit-level cooling system. The device also utilizes Honor’s proprietary Phantom Engine 3.0 and the C3 RF enhancement chip to optimize performance and connectivity.
Display and Camera Capabilities
The device features a 6.81-inch flat OLED panel with a resolution of 2788 x 1280. The screen supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and reaches a global peak brightness of 2,000 nits, with local peak brightness capabilities hitting 10,000 nits. Honor has implemented 3,840 Hz PWM dimming to address eye strain at lower brightness levels.
The camera array is led by a 200 MP Samsung S5KHP5 sensor, which measures 1/1.55 inches and features an f/1.9 aperture with optical image stabilization (OIS). Complementing the primary shooter is a 50 MP telephoto lens with a Sony LYTIA 500 sensor, also equipped with OIS, and a 12 MP ultrawide camera with autofocus. For video, the system supports recording at up to 4K resolution at 120 frames per second. The front-facing camera utilizes a 50 MP sensor.
Battery, Charging, and Design
Despite its 8.1 mm thickness—which is thinner than both the standard Magic9 (8.49 mm) and the Magic9 Pro Max (8.59 mm)—the Super Edition houses a large battery capacity of 11,000 mAh. The device supports 80 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging. The phone weighs approximately 227 grams and includes an optical fingerprint sensor located under the display.
Connectivity and Software
The handset runs MagicOS 11, based on Android 17. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC. The device also includes an infrared remote control and dual SIM support. Additional hardware features include stereo speakers, a dedicated AI button, and IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.
Pricing and Availability
Honor offers the Magic9 Super Edition in four color variants: Popcorn Yellow, Curtain Black, Olive Green, and a white version marketed as "Opening Statement." Pricing in China is structured as follows:
