‘Hoppers’ Continues to Dominate, ‘Reminders of Him’ Shows Strong International Start

Before Universal’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie arrives in theaters, Disney Pixar’s Hoppers is maintaining its box office momentum, grossing $59.5 million globally during its second weekend ($28.5 million domestically, $31 million from 45 territories), bringing its worldwide total to $164.7 million ($86.8 million domestic, $77.9 million international). This positions Hoppers as one of the top three U.S. Films worldwide year-to-date and the highest-grossing animated release of 2026 so far, surpassing Sony’s GOAT ($162.8 million worldwide) and China’s Bonnie Bears: The Hidden Protector ($150 million in PLC).

‘Hoppers’ Demonstrates Strong Holds

Hoppers experienced a 37% drop in ticket sales domestically and a 17% decrease internationally. The film was the top non-local movie opening in Japan ($2.4 million), Hong Kong (the best opening for an original animated picture since 2017’s Coco), Singapore (the best opening for a Disney and Pixar original animated picture since 2016’s Moana), and Vietnam. The Japanese opening was the second-highest for an original animated film since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The second-weekend overseas hold is stronger than the second weekend declines of Zootopia (-18%) and Wreck-It Ralph (-23%).

Hoppers as well topped the charts in all major European markets (excluding the Netherlands) as well as Asian and Latin American markets. Notable holds include Germany (+38%), Mexico (-3%), Italy (-13%), Korea (-26%), Brazil (-27%), France (-31%), Spain (-37%), and the UK (-37%). Other second-weekend increases were seen in Switzerland (+67%), Belgium (+44%), Netherlands (+17%), Sweden (+10%), Ecuador (+4%), Denmark (+3%), Czechia (+2%), Portugal (+1%), and Chile (+1%).

The second-weekend domestic hold is comparable to Inside Out (-34%) and Elemental (-38%).
