Local Turkish media reports, as reported AFPFriday (13/2/2026), said the two Uzbek women were believed to have been killed in the same way, in the same location in the Sisli district area, Istanbul, around January 23. The motive for the murder is not yet clear.

Istanbul police initially discovered a headless body wrapped in cloth and dumped in a rubbish bin in the Sicily area. The corpse’s legs had also been mutilated.

The headless corpse was identified as Durdona Khakimova, a 37-year-old Uzbek woman.

After checking CCTV footage, police arrested the two men, who are Uzbek nationals, at Istanbul airport as they attempted to leave the city.

The second body, local media said DHA News And Halk TV in his report, it was found mutilated in several different trash cans in Istanbul. Local authorities identified the second body as Ergashalieva Sayyora, a 32-year-old Uzbek citizen.

Sayyora arrived in Türkiye on December 28, 2025 and remained in contact with her family until January 23.

The discovery of Sayyora’s body occurred after investigators who received information carried out an investigation and concluded that the woman also lived in the house where Khakimova was killed.

Investigators found that the two foreign women lived together in the house for a month with the two men who were suspects, and that Sayyora was having an affair with one of the suspects.

On January 23, CCTV footage showed Sayyora entering the house, followed by the two suspects, who were then seen leaving the house the next day carrying several black rubbish bags.

The two suspects were also seen carrying a white suitcase out of the house and taking a taxi to the Fatih area, emptying its contents into a rubbish bin and walking to Yenikapi metro station.

During interrogation of the two suspects, investigators learned that Sayyora was killed with a sharp object on January 23 and her body was mutilated.

The two suspects, who have been charged with murder, will appear in court on Friday (13/2) local time.

This murder case sparked anger from women’s rights groups, who held large-scale demonstrations in Istanbul and Ankara, demanding justice for victims of gender violence.
