According to court documents, Bozeman Police officers responded to a call at the Quality Inn on Wheat Drive shortly after 10 p.m. on January 7, 2026, regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from a stab wound to the chest. Miguel Angel Arreygue Godinez was apprehended at the scene [1].

Investigators report that Arreygue godinez admitted to intentionally attempting to harm his father. He allegedly stated that he had been planning the attack, initially intending to use boiling water before resorting to a knife.The suspect reportedly told police he felt betrayed by his father and that ongoing issues, coupled with perceived mistreatment at work and threats to his family in Mexico, motivated the attack.
