Houston Shooting Linked to Narcotics Deal Leaves One Dead, Another Hospitalized
HOUSTON – A shooting in west Houston on Wednesday evening left one man dead and another hospitalized, with police investigating the incident as a possible drug deal gone wrong. The shooting occurred in the 700 block of Country Place Drive, near Memorial Drive.
Details of the Shooting
According to the Houston Police Department (HPD), officers responded to reports of gunfire and discovered an adult male who had been shot at least once. Houston Fire Department personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. KHOU 11 reported on the initial response.
Investigators found narcotics near the deceased man, leading them to believe the shooting stemmed from a narcotics transaction. Click2Houston confirmed this assessment.
Second Victim Found at Emergency Clinic
A second man, suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm, was dropped off at a nearby emergency clinic. Police reported that a black car pulled up to the clinic and occupants pushed the injured man out before driving away. He was subsequently transported to a hospital. OnScene.tv detailed the events surrounding the second victim’s arrival at the clinic.
Conflicting Statements and Investigation
The injured man initially told officers he was shot near Bissonnet Street and Boone Road, but investigators do not believe this account to be accurate. HPD believes he was involved in the shooting on Country Place Drive and is currently being detained while investigators work to determine the full circumstances. FOX 26 Houston reported on the conflicting statements.
Lieutenant Larry Crowson with HPD is leading the investigation. No arrests have been announced as of February 26, 2026. The investigation remains ongoing.
