Meta Rolls Out Unified Accounts and Centralized Settings
Meta is actively deploying updates that shift users toward unified Meta accounts and a centralized accounts center, according to the company’s support documentation. The phased rollout touches account settings and profile management tools across the platform, though the fresh interface has not yet reached every user.
New Profile Fields Allow Shared Interests and Privacy Controls
User profiles now boast expanded customizable fields for personal details, work history, education, hobbies, interests, travel, links, and contact information. Individuals can opt to share profile updates directly to their feed or use a shared interests feature to connect with others listing identical details. Strong privacy controls allow people to manage who sees specific profile fields, though Facebook pronouns remain public by default, as Meta notes. Users can also incorporate an introduction featuring a brief description or presentation about themselves. Tapping the friends in common tab displays a list of friends who have added the same details or interests, showing which items are shared with each friend and providing a complete list of friends when an interest is selected.
Users Update Personal Info via Desktop or Accounts Center
Account holders can adjust core personal information through two distinct pathways. On desktop browsers, users go to their profile, select the "About" tab, and modify basic and contact information under designated submenus. Alternatively, users can access the Accounts Center via "Settings & privacy" to update contact details and birth dates across connected accounts.
Meta Rolls Out Profile Updates and Public Pronoun Settings
Meta states that the rollout is happening gradually, meaning the Accounts Center and updated settings are not yet available to every user.
When it comes to visibility, Meta specifies that while individuals can choose who views their gender identity, pronouns selected on Facebook are public by default.
Users can update an introduction, personal details like relationship status and location, work experience, education history, hobbies, interests, travel destinations, personal links, and contact information.
