Annika Shah Reaches 1,000-Point Milestone in Cal Poly Women’s Basketball
Cal Poly women’s basketball senior point guard Annika Shah made history on January 25, 2025, by scoring her 1,000th career point during a game against CSU Long Beach. This achievement places her among the program’s all-time leading scorers, marking a significant milestone in her collegiate career.
The Moment That Defined Her Legacy
Shah’s 1,000th point came on a buzzer-beating shot at the end of the first quarter, a moment she described as both unexpected and deeply meaningful. “I wasn’t necessarily counting down the points I needed to hit 1,000,” Shah said, reflecting on the game. “But I knew the moment I hit it because I looked at my family and they gave me the signal that I did it.”
The game, which Cal Poly won 78-71, was particularly special for Shah due to the presence of her family in the stands. “To be able to do it in front of my family was a very special moment because they’ve sacrificed so much for me,” she added.
A Career Built on Resilience
