Samsung device owners managing multiple accounts can now use Dual Messenger. This native feature within the One UI operating system clones messaging applications to run separate profiles simultaneously on a single phone.
Cloning Apps at the Operating System Level
The tool eliminates the need to constantly log out and log back in. It provides a streamlined option for users balancing separate personal and professional profiles.
Configuring Dual Messenger in Galaxy Settings
To set up a cloned application, users open the Settings app on their Galaxy device and go to Advanced features, as detailed by TV Azteca.
Selecting Dual Messenger displays a list of compatible applications installed on the phone. This typically includes WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, and Messenger.
Toggling the switch next to the desired platform triggers a prompt asking users to confirm the installation of a second, independent copy.
Managing Separate Contact Lists and App Icons
During this setup process, users can choose the “Use separate contact list” option if they prefer the cloned app to manage an exclusive address book separate from the primary profile.
Once confirmed, the system creates a duplicate application in the app drawer.
This secondary version features the standard app icon accompanied by a small blue marker in the corner to distinguish it from the original software.
The Shift Toward In-App Account Switching
While Samsung’s Dual Messenger duplicates entire application packages at the operating system level to maintain two separate instances, software developers have also begun integrating native account switching directly into their interfaces.
