Hradec Králové Advances in Playoffs After Hard-Fought Victory Over Třinec

Hradec Králové secured a crucial victory against Třinec, leveling the playoff series at 2-1. The win came after a challenging match marked by physical play and key performances from Aleš Jergl and other Mountfield HK players.

Character Displayed After Two Home Losses

Following two defeats on home ice, Hradec demonstrated resilience in Třinec. Coach Tomáš Martinec acknowledged the team’s strong performance, stating it was their best match in Třinec thus far. Forward Aleš Jergl echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the team’s determination to equalize the series.

Key Moments and Penalties

The game wasn’t without its contentious moments. Late in the third period, Hradec found themselves shorthanded after penalties assessed to Kevin Klima and Patrik Miskar following incidents involving Třinec’s Oscar Flynn. Despite a lengthy five-on-three power play for Třinec, Hradec’s penalty kill unit successfully defended their lead.

Jergl’s Performance and Injury Concern

Aleš Jergl played a pivotal role in the victory, but also sustained an injury during the game. He collided with Libor Hudáček of Třinec, resulting in a head injury. Jergl stated he would undergo an X-ray to assess the extent of the injury, but remained optimistic about his recovery. “My head is a little dizzy, so I’ll probably go for an X-ray. I believe everything will be fine,” Jergl said.

Power Play Execution

Hradec Králové capitalized on their power play opportunities, scoring twice with the man advantage. Jergl highlighted the importance of power play execution in the series, noting that converting on these chances will be crucial for success. “We realize that power plays will be decisive in the whole series. We got it, unfortunately we didn’t convert it, but then we had another one and we used it, which won us the game,” Jergl reported.

Looking Ahead

With the series now tied 2-1, Hradec Králové will look to continue their momentum in the next game. The team recognizes the need to maintain their composure and capitalize on opportunities as the playoffs progress.
