Huawei Expands Contactless Payments to Wearables with Curve Pay Integration
Contactless payments are now available on a growing range of Huawei Watch smartwatches across Europe, thanks to a partnership with Curve Pay. This integration allows users to make secure tap-to-pay purchases directly from their wrist, streamlining everyday transactions.
Curve Pay Integration: A Growing Trend
Huawei announced the expansion of Curve Pay functionality to its wearable devices on March 19, 2026 [1]. This follows the initial integration in the recently launched Huawei Watch GT Runner 2. The feature is now accessible on the Huawei Watch Ultimate 2, Huawei Watch GT 6, Huawei Watch GT 5, and Huawei Watch Fit 4.
How it Works
Users can access Curve Pay through the Huawei AppGallery by downloading the Curve application and linking it to their Huawei Health app. This allows them to configure a virtual payment card based on their existing bank cards. The virtual Curve card is then linked to their Huawei account and used for contactless payments via Huawei Wallet on their watch.
Key Benefits of Using Curve Pay on Huawei Watches
- Direct Tap-to-Pay: Enables quick and convenient payments at compatible terminals.
- Card Management: Offers in-app features for managing connected cards, including the ability to instantly freeze them.
- One Smart Wallet: Consolidates multiple cards into a single interface.
- Enhanced Security: Features off-wrist detection, requiring a passcode if the device is removed.
Compatible Huawei Watch Models
Currently, Curve Pay is available on the following Huawei Watch models:
- Huawei Watch Ultimate 2
- Huawei Watch GT 6
- Huawei Watch GT 5
- Huawei Watch Fit 4
- Huawei Watch GT Runner 2
Huawei plans to expand compatibility to additional models in the coming months [1]. Users can check for availability through a notification in the Huawei Health mobile application.
Security Measures
All transactions made with Curve Pay on Huawei Watches are protected by an encryption system. Users can also remotely deactivate their card through the application if necessary.
Expanding Contactless Payment Options
Huawei’s move to integrate Curve Pay aligns with the growing demand for convenient and secure contactless payment solutions. In June 2021, Huawei partnered with Stocard to enable NFC payments on Huawei phones in the UK, Germany, Italy, France, and the Netherlands [3]. This expansion to wearables further solidifies Huawei’s commitment to providing seamless payment experiences for its users.
