Huawei announced the Watch D3 smartwatch, featuring a built-in inflatable airbag strap designed to deliver medical-grade blood pressure monitoring directly from the wrist without requiring a separate cuff, according to reporting by Gizmochina and Digital Trends.

Design and Physical Specifications of the Huawei Watch D3

The Huawei Watch D3 measures 11.3mm thick and weighs 40 grams, according to Gizmochina. The device features a 25.5mm airbag strap, which is narrower than the 26.5mm cuff used on the preceding Watch D2 model. Digital Trends notes that the mechanical airbag applies pressure against the wrist to mimic traditional blood pressure devices, moving away from the optical PPG sensors utilized by mainstream competitors like the Google Pixel Watch 5 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 9. The Watch D3 is available in three color finishes: Black, White, and Mocha Gold, as reported by Gizmochina.

Medical-Grade Blood Pressure Tracking and Clinical Validation

The blood pressure system uses an inflatable airbag and a high-precision sensor processed through an adaptive measurement algorithm, according to Digital Trends. Gizmochina reports that the device maintains 24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) following European Society of Hypertension (ESH) guidelines for measurement intervals, taking readings every 15 to 30 minutes with at least 20 readings during the day and 7 overnight. Digital Trends notes that the airbag inflates more quietly and automatically at night to minimize sleep disruptions. Additionally, the watch includes pre- and post-exercise blood pressure checks to track shifts during workouts, and holds a CE marking under the EU Medical Device Regulation, according to Gizmochina.

Health Ecosystem Features and Pricing Details

Beyond blood pressure, the Huawei Watch D3 features Health Glance, which compiles up to 11 health indicators into a report in about 60 seconds, alongside Health Insights for long-term trend analysis and a Health Community feature for family monitoring, according to Gizmochina and Digital Trends. In the United Kingdom, the Watch D3 will retail for £399.99 starting September 23 through the Huawei Store, Amazon, and select retailers, as reported by Gizmochina. Buyers purchasing between September 23, 2026, and September 22, 2027, receive 10 months of Bupa Well+ health services valued at £200, while early buyers via the Huawei Store receive a free Huawei Scale 3 through November 3, according to Gizmochina.
