Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, and Hudson Williams Join Cast of Crave’s ‘Yaga’

Crave’s upcoming half-hour drama series, Yaga, has added a notable cast including Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek), and Hudson Williams (Heated Rivalry), alongside Clark Backo (Letterkenny). The series, based on the play by Kat Sandler, marks Crave’s first original half-hour drama.

A Modern Take on Slavic Mythology

Yaga is a contemporary reimagining of the myth of Baba Yaga, set in a coastal town. Kat Sandler serves as the writer and showrunner for the eight-episode series, which is produced by Front Street Pictures and Blink49 Studios in partnership with Crave. Production is currently underway. Variety reports the series will be shopped at next week’s London TV Screenings.

The Story Unfolds

The series centers on Rapp (Noah Reid), a private investigator who arrives in a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park (Hudson Williams), the young heir to a powerful fishery. Decider details that Rapp’s investigation leads him into conflict with local detective Carson (Clark Backo) and Katherine (Carrie-Anne Moss), a charismatic university professor with “a taste for younger men.” The plot promises “a labyrinth of enigmatic suspects, secret lives, and ancient magic.”

From Stage to Screen

Sandler described the evolution of Yaga, stating it has moved “from myth to stage to my first greenlit series, reclaiming the wicked witch and reshaping her as an incendiary feminist antihero for our time.” The Hollywood Reporter notes Sandler’s vision for the series is “propulsive, accessible, dark, funny and unapologetically bold.”

Building on Success

This project follows the success of Heated Rivalry, which gained popularity on Crave and HBO Max. Variety highlights that Yaga represents a continued collaboration between Crave and Blink49 Studios, who have previously worked together on series such as Don’t Even, Late Bloomer, and The Trades.

Yaga is executive produced by Mackenzie Donaldson and Andrew Miller, alongside Carrie-Anne Moss, and produced by Charles Cooper.
