“We can certainly look neat and presentable, and farm life isn’t always messy and dirty,” Boerland said. “That image deserves to be shown as well. Besides, the whole situation surrounding farmers naturally makes it extra nice to be on it.”

For Boerland, appearing on the calendar is a family tradition. At his family’s farm in Koekange, the counterpart Boerinnen Kalender has hung in the stable for many years. His sister, Roos, previously featured on the calendar and earned the title of Miss Boerin. That connection inspired Boerland to follow in her footsteps.
