The solutions for the October 5, 2026, edition of the daily word game Hurdle are CHIME, RAJAH, PLACE, and BATCH, concluding with LADLE as the Final Hurdle word. Developed by Arkadium, the game is syndicated across platforms including Dictionary.com, The Washington Post, and AARP Games, ensuring the same five words appear across all versions.

Daily Word Solutions

Players faced four initial rounds, each requiring a five-letter word guessed within six attempts. The sequence for October 5 was as follows:

  • Round 1: CHIME (Hint: Ring / associated with a small sound or ringing noise)
  • Round 2: RAJAH (Hint: An Asian prince / refers to a ruler or sovereign)
  • Round 3: PLACE (Hint: Location / can refer to a particular location or position)
  • Round 4: BATCH (Hint: Bulk / can describe a group of items processed or produced together)

The Final Hurdle

The game concludes with a fifth round known as the “ultimate hurdle.” Unlike the previous rounds, the Final Hurdle begins with the first four answers already entered on the board. These previous answers are colored to show correct and misplaced letters, providing the only clues available to the player. For October 5, the board provided four green and two yellow tiles based on the previous words.

The answer for the final round was LADLE, described as a soup spoon or a kitchen utensil used for scooping or serving. While the first four rounds allow six guesses, players are limited to only two guesses to solve the Final Hurdle. According to Mashable, the number of times a letter is highlighted from previous guesses does not necessarily indicate how many times that letter appears in the final word.

Game Mechanics

Hurdle utilizes a feedback system similar to Wordle, where green tiles indicate a correct letter in the right spot, yellow tiles indicate a correct letter in the wrong position, and grey tiles indicate the letter is not in the word. Each successful guess in the first four rounds provides the previous answer as the first guess for the next hurdle, which may provide several clues or none depending on the words.
