As the holy month of Rabi’ al-Awwal approaches, the fourth district of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund in Ibb Governorate launched an extensive public awareness campaign on August 10, 2026. According to the Saba News Agency, the initiative targets local schools and universities to promote public hygiene, environmental responsibility, and civic duty ahead of the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday celebrations.

Campaign Goals and Community Engagement in Ibb

The hygiene initiative running through 12 Rabi’ al-Awwal seeks to embed cleanliness as both a religious and a civilized practice. According to Adel Omar, the general manager of the governorate’s Cleaning and Improvement Fund, the campaign translates faith-based identity and Islamic values into practical, everyday behaviors that protect the environment and maintain public spaces.

Fund officials stress that community success depends on close cooperation between municipal administration, local residents, and educational institutions. Majid Al-Bakhiti, head of the fourth district, stated that the program aims to curb counterproductive public habits that disrupt municipal cleaning operations. Organizers have established several operational tracks across local neighborhoods and schools:

  • Launching the “Ambassador for Cleanliness and Environmental Awareness” initiative to recognize students who follow proper sanitation guidelines.
  • Conducting on-site educational seminars across classrooms and lecture halls.
  • Organizing community-led clean-up drives in public streets and residential sectors.
  • Deploying field monitoring teams to oversee local beautification and waste-reduction efforts.

Broader Regional Preparations Across Yemen

According to reports from the Saba News Agency, similar community events, school exhibitions, and institutional meetings took place concurrently in Al-Mahwit, Sanaa, Saada, and Hodeidah.

The sanitation drive in Ibb remains active through the culmination of the holiday, with municipal teams continuing field outreach to ensure sustained civic participation.
