Major Crash Shuts Down Lanes on I-35 South in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A multi-vehicle crash caused significant traffic disruptions on Interstate 35 South in San Antonio early Saturday morning, March 21, 2026. The incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. In the 9000 block of IH-35 Southbound, near the Cassin Road bridge.

Details of the Crash

According to the San Antonio Police Department, a Ford F-150 was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a Toyota Tacoma. The impact pushed the Tacoma into a grassy median and onto an access road. The Ford F-150 then struck a metal barrier on the Cassin Road bridge, obstructing two lanes of traffic.

Shortly after, a semi-truck collided with the rear of the Ford F-150, further complicating the situation.

Injuries and Response

Three individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. These included the 37-year-classic driver of the Toyota Tacoma, and two passengers from the pickup truck – a 25-year-old man and a 17-year-old.

The driver of the Ford F-150 reportedly left the scene before emergency crews arrived.

Traffic Impact

The crash resulted in the closure of multiple lanes on IH-35 Southbound, causing significant delays for commuters. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes. As of 11:27 AM CST, the lanes remained closed as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the incident.
