Iowa Economic Development Authority Approves $51 Million in Incentives for Job Creation and Community Projects
The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) approved awards totaling more than $51 million in new investment and 65 jobs across the state, according to a news release. The funding includes tax credits for two companies and grants for community development projects, alongside support for three startups.
Which Companies Received Awards?
Pries Enterprises, based in Independence, was awarded $1.3 million in tax credits through the Business Incentives for Growth (BIG) program. The company plans to build a 124,000-square-foot facility, creating 43 jobs at a minimum wage of $24.93 per hour. The project, valued at $34.5 million, will expand production of aluminum products for industries including agriculture and housing.
AU Solutions, a Tulsa-based manufacturer of agricultural chemicals, received $495,000 in tax credits to construct a new facility in Newton. The $17 million project is expected to create 22 jobs, with 12 positions offering a minimum wage of $29.98 per hour. This will be the company’s first facility outside its Oklahoma headquarters.
How Do the Grants Benefit Communities?
The IEDA also allocated funds for community projects, including:
– Le Mars: $1 million to enhance a city park with pickleball courts, fitness areas, and a renovated golf course clubhouse, part of a $6.87 million initiative.

Why Does This Matter for Iowa’s Economy?
The investments align with broader efforts to diversify Iowa’s economy, emphasizing manufacturing, technology, and community development. The IEDA’s focus on job creation and infrastructure projects aims to attract businesses while improving quality of life in rural areas.
What’s Next for These Projects?
Pries Enterprises and AU Solutions are expected to begin construction within the next 12 months, according to IEDA officials. Community projects in Le Mars, Ogden, and Wellman will be prioritized in the coming months, with timelines dependent on funding disbursement and permitting. Startup recipients have outlined plans to scale operations by 2025.
