Ignitis ON Expands EV Charging Network in Riga with Novel High-Power Hubs

Ignitis ON continues to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Riga, Latvia, with the recent opening of high-power charging centers at both Riga Plaza and near the Spice shopping center. These additions significantly increase the availability of convenient and fast charging options for EV drivers in the city and across the Baltic region.

New Charging Centers Offer Rapid Charging Capabilities

The newly launched charging center near the Spice shopping center boasts 10 charging points, capable of delivering up to 400 kW of power per vehicle. The total capacity of the center reaches 1 MW, allowing for simultaneous charging of multiple EVs. Similarly, a charging hub at Riga Plaza features 10 charging points , offering one of the largest total capacities in Latvia.

Expanding Network Coverage in Riga and Beyond

With the addition of these new stations, Ignitis ON now operates 58 stations in Riga, comprising over 160 charging points. This provides comprehensive charging coverage throughout the city. Currently, Ignitis ON has more than 450 charging points available across Latvia, both in Riga and in regional areas .

All Ignitis ON stations and charging points are integrated with the Ignitis ON mobile app, available on both Google Play and the App Store . The app allows users to:

Strategic Partnerships Enhance Charging Accessibility

Ignitis ON has collaborated with Rimi Latvia to establish these charging centers in high-traffic locations. Māris Gailītis, Rimi Latvia’s real estate and development director, emphasized the convenience of EV charging whereas customers shop. The location near Spice is strategically positioned to serve commuters traveling towards Jurmala or Kurzeme.

Baltic Region Coverage and Future Expansion

The Ignitis ON network currently covers over 90% of the Baltic territory, facilitating seamless EV travel between the countries. In Latvia, the network reaches 86.5% coverage, ensuring accessibility even outside major cities. The company follows a “30-kilometer law,” ensuring a 30-km reach radius around each charging station to provide drivers with peace of mind.
