IKEA has teamed up with Microsoft to launch a nine-piece gaming furniture and home accessories collection named Yxstaby, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the first Xbox console. The collaboration introduces functional items designed around recognizable controller motifs, featuring neutral Scandinavian colors paired with flashes of iconic Xbox green.

Hardware-Inspired Design and Everyday Utility
The Yxstaby collection includes a TV stand, laptop stand, side table, lounge chair, and a multi-functional toolbox, alongside standout pieces shaped around classic hardware. According to Ikea product design developer Philip Dilé, the collaboration aims to create furniture people actually want in their homes rather than items accepted purely for gaming utility.
The range features several items directly inspired by original hardware shapes:
- Thumbstick Stool: Developed using original 3D design files for the Xbox controller, the stool features a grippy textured surface designed to prevent slipping and moves to tilt with the user while seated, according to Ikea designer David Wahl.
- Scatter Cushion: A green, X-shaped cushion designed to add accent color while offering soft support.
- Easel-Style TV Stand: Available in black and white colorways to match console finishes, this mobile stand includes castors, shelves, and hooks for gadgets.
- Lounge Chair: Features a mesh pocket on the underside sized to store game controllers, books, or magazines.
- Mirrored Display Box: Designed in black or white to function as wall decor for displaying controller collections.
- Trinket Dish and Toolbox: A metallic dish inspired by the D-pad and a wooden toolbox that doubles as a laptop stand.
Hitting Stores Ahead of the Holiday Season
According to announcements from Ikea, the Yxstaby collection will launch online and in physical Ikea stores starting October 1st. Pricing and exact availability timelines will vary by market, with products arriving just in time for the holiday shopping season and the platform’s milestone anniversary.
